Solos is NOT a dating idea, its purely designed for all to download the sign and place it in the front of the unit when away on site. If another Solo see's the sign, they will know you are approachable for a coffee etc. and a chat.

Solos is designed for all solo caravanners, campers or motorhomers to use when touring. Solos is for people who like to talk to like minded people whilst away on thier tours. You never know who your near, could be one Solo, could be more??   I can’t guarantee anything, but who knows.

To date there are approx 450 known Solos, and possibly hundreds out there that I know nothing of!

By placing the sign in the front of the unit, it will let other Solos know your on site, its the social life on site that is not normaly there when your on your own.

This is at present, a new venture. It is hoped that others will print and use the sign, so when away you will possibly see a few of the signs on site.

The concept of Solos evolved over 3 years of discussions, with other lone caravan/motorhomers on Club Together (the Caravan Club forum).  I have been involved from nearly the start, alas, the original posters have since moved away from the forum, but through not wanting to be alone on site, I persevered to where Solos is today.

At no time are people under any form of membership, contact, they pay NO fee’s, not stuck with only rallies, people come and go, book and stay where and when they want. You can use the sign as often or as little as you choose. It’s not time limited, so can be used 24/7 365 days a year.

The sign prints off into a A5 size graphic. It is then placed in the front window of your unit.  If another Solo on site see’s the sign, then they know you are approachable, or vice versa, for a chat, coffee or a meal out, the kind of company that others have on site, rather than sitting on your own.  Or like I say ‘in a crowd, but on your own’.

You can display the sign whenever you want, wherever you want, there is no obligation. As the sites are mainly used on Main sites, Rallies, Temparary Holiday Sites or Events, security is not an issue, however, regardless of a sign or not, do make sure you don’t invite people you are uneasy with into your unit etc.  (Common sense really).

So, that’s about the sign, show and you never know who else is Solo until you meet

The Solos also place dates in 'Diary Dates' of when they will be away on a certain site. No name is needed, just post in the Caravan Club Club Together Forum under ‘Club Together>Discussions>Solo & Touring on the Diary Dates or Email me the details on solos1@virginmedia.com and I will post on your behalf.  Other Solos will read it and may possibly be on the same site as you.  The Diary Dates are kept up to date as much as possible. When you meet up with another Solo, this is called a Greet, as usually you greet each other with a ‘Hello!’

There are also meets being aranged throughout the year. These are not rallies, you book, come and go and you please, but if you want to chat etc, we will be there. A meet is generally more than 2 Solos on site.

This is where someone decides to advertise well in advance, a possible meet up at a main site. An advert is placed on the Caravan Club Forum under the Solos threads, or I can post it in Diary Dates for you. You choose a date and place, book your pitch and wait to see who else joins.  We have ran several Meets already, all have been successful.

So, just post your dates and site where you will be, wait and see who would like to join you. Or, you could go to the site and see who else is there, a true suprise!

I know we are called Solos but 'Friends for free on site' would be a better way of putting it.

I do hope this is clear on how the sign and meets work??
